Write your first local note

Get from a fresh page to something worth keeping, without creating an account.

Start with one useful thought

Open Notes on your device and begin with something you want to keep: a question, a source, a sketch, or a few lines from a conversation. You do not need a Notes account to write locally. A platform store may have its own account requirements.

Give the thought a home

Choose a clear title that you will recognize later. Put related material together, and link to an existing note when it provides context. A daily note is useful for quick capture; a template gives repeated work a familiar starting point.

Check that the work is local

Local saving means this device has kept the note. It does not mean another device or teammate has received it. Reopen the note on the same device before relying on it, and keep a verified backup or export of irreplaceable work.

Add synchronization deliberately

When you want the same work on another device, set up synchronization under the applicable plan. Personal adds hosted cross-device sync and selected-note collaboration. A free account can participate in selected notes someone has invited you to. Signing up alone does not establish a separate free hosted workspace.
