Privacy

Your people can read it. We can’t.

Notes encrypts your notes on your device. They stay encrypted on our servers and open only on the devices of people you’ve invited. You still get live editing, comments and offline work.

The boundary

What is protected, and what isn’t.

Encryption protects note content. Running a service still involves some information, and some things are up to you.

Encrypted end to end

  • The notes you write and share
  • Discussion inside those notes
  • Offline edits, once they sync

Handled by Notes

  • Account email and sign-in
  • Billing and subscriptions
  • Workspace membership
  • Service and delivery records

In your hands

  • Copies on your devices and backups
  • Your recovery setup
  • Agents and tools you allow
  • Who you invite and remove

In everyday terms

Four places privacy gets tested.

The company and its operators

The promise covers the content of your personal and shared notes. It has to hold through everyday administration, diagnostics, backups and supported recovery, not only while data is in transit.

Your devices and copies

Encryption in transit and on our servers is separate from protecting your own devices. Local copies and backups need their own care, and removing someone can’t delete what they already have.

Sign-in and decryption

Resetting a password can restore access to your account without restoring the keys to read old notes. Set up recovery in the app before you need it.

Diagnostics and tools

Support only sees what you choose to send through a reviewed form. An agent you allow can read the notes you give it and may send them to its model provider.

Removing access stops what comes next.

When you remove someone from a note or workspace, they lose access to future changes. Copies already on their device, in a backup or in a tool they used stay where they are. Share with that in mind.
