Delete an account or leave a workspace
Review ownership, billing and local work before a destructive change.
Choose the action you mean
Cancel renewal to stop a subscription renewing. Leave a workspace to change that membership. Remove an account from a device to change local access. Delete an account to remove the service identity under the applicable policy. These actions are not interchangeable.
Resolve ownership first
An active workspace must not be left without the required owner. Transfer ownership through a supported, accepted handoff or resolve workspace closure before deleting the sole owner’s account. Payment authority and decryption access are separate from administrative ownership.
Protect local work and understand billing
Check relevant devices for unsent changes and verify a backup or export. An offline device may remain unknown to the service. Identify each actual biller and subscription; account deletion is not proof that every external charge has stopped.
Read the scope of completion
Shared contributions, billing records, operational records and backups can have different retention rules. A completed request cannot erase another person’s independently obtained copy. The result should identify what was accepted, what is pending and which reviewed exceptions apply.
