Why can’t someone edit?
Separate invitation, identity, role and decryption problems.
Confirm the intended identity
Make sure the person is using the account that was invited. A link opened under another authenticated identity can be unavailable even when the invitation itself is valid.
Check the invitation and role
An invitation may be pending, expired, revoked or already accepted. A read-only role does not grant editing. The note owner or an authorized workspace administrator can correct the scope they manage; an unrelated administrator cannot.
Check device readiness separately
A valid membership does not prove the recipient’s device has received or decrypted the relevant keys. Keep an access problem separate from a missing-key problem, and continue setup in the native app when local verification is needed.
Share only useful support context
Describe the invitation state and error category without sending the private note or its sharing link. Ask the authorized person to review access rather than giving support a password, key or account session.
