Account access and encrypted-data recovery

A password reset and the ability to decrypt are different things.

Identify the problem

Regaining account access lets you authenticate. Reading existing encrypted content requires the appropriate decryption material. A web login does not prove a device can decrypt your notes.

Check a trusted device

A still-authorized device may help through the supported recovery design. Keep it intact while checking local work and recovery readiness. Exact passphrase, trusted-device and recovery-material behavior must match the implementation.

Keep secrets out of support

Never paste a password, encryption key, recovery phrase or authentication token into a message, diagnostic file or URL. Support should explain the supported recovery path without impersonating you or bypassing encryption.

Prepare before a device is lost

Use the app’s supported recovery checks and keep the required material safe. Verify a local backup or export before removing an original. What can be restored depends on the recovery setup that was actually completed.
