Work offline and reconnect

Keep writing locally while understanding what teammates can see.

Keep local work available

You can continue local writing without a Notes account or network connection. A shared note must already be available on the device, with the necessary access and decryption material, to be useful offline.

Separate local save from delivery

An offline edit cannot be visible to a remote teammate until it is synchronized. Do not use a local saved indicator as evidence that everyone has the same version. The receiving device also needs to connect and be able to decrypt.

Review after reconnecting

Reconnect, inspect the resulting shared note and follow the supported history or recovery route if the outcome is not what you intended. Automatic merging can combine edits without preserving the meaning everyone had in mind. Ask collaborators about overlapping changes before overwriting them.
