Find a missing or unavailable attachment
A local link, an uploaded resource and an offline copy have different behavior.
Identify what the note refers to
A local file link points to material on a particular device. An uploaded attachment is a resource intended to synchronize. An offline copy is material already available on the device you are using.
Check transfer and access separately
A pending upload, insufficient device storage, a remote capacity limit and missing permission are different problems. A transferred attachment can still be unavailable if the device cannot decrypt it.
Keep the only copy safe
Do not clear storage or delete the source file until a usable copy is verified. Removing a resource may affect other people, while deleting a local link does not necessarily remove a hosted resource.
Report the state without sending the file
Start with the platform, app version and error category. Do not attach a private file or reveal its path to demonstrate the problem. Support can request specific additional evidence through a reviewed process if needed.
